Geoff Mitchell

Geoff was the Vice Convener of Unite's City of Edinburgh Council branch until his untimely death on 22 August 2010.  Geoff was well respected, both by members and management and was a staunch trade unionist and christian who always sought to do the best by people.  He was a huge asset to our branch and his loss will always be felt by the members he represented and to the branch as a whole.  He carried out his role in the union with committment, determination and great gusto.  Even when he was in St Columbus Hospice he still managed to carry out his trade union duties with no regard to the situation he was in.  He was a great character, a good husband, father and granddad and a good friend to many, as was shown by the huge turnout at his funeral.  A truly nice man who will be missed by many.  RIP brother.
